My son’s school was looking for an art project for the school to build spirt. The tagline for the project was “Buzzing About Kindness”. Many ideas were put forward, but my wife suggested that we make a web app that plays audio clips based on categories and shows random art. After the art was created and the audio was recorded, I started the editing process. I cropped and optimize the images and used Adobe Audition to cut the sound bites and noise reduce the audio. Once I had the media, it was time to design the app. The schools mascot is the bumblebee so I decided to use a honeycomb as part of the design.
Once I was happy with the design it was time to code. I used the React UI library and created a local database with JSON to link the audio clips to the categories. Once the program was working, it was time to make it look like the design. I wrote the CSS in a mobile first way and finally it was complete.
